Cinema Makeup School (CMS) is recognized worldwide as the leader in quality makeup artistry training due in large part to our unique one-on-one mentorship and our current and updated class syllabuses reflecting cutting edge makeup techniques and materials. Established in 1993, our influence has grown internationally. Students are able to learn from recognized professional Hollywood makeup artists in a hands-on laboratory environment and benefit from the school’s active industry connections. Whereas other makeup schools concentrate on the number of graduates, we specialize in the quality of our graduates work and the quality of our instruction. Upon graduation, students are well prepared for the high standards and expectations of the Hollywood entertainment industry.
We maintain a close relationship with our graduates and are deeply invested in their success in the makeup industry. At any time our graduates can audit classes to refresh their memory or meet with our Director to review their portfolio. We have also hosted several notable instructors and guest lecturers such as: Craig Reardon (4 time Emmy Award winner), Ve Neil (3 time Oscar Award winner), Kevin Haney (Academy Award winner), Kazuhiro Tsuji (2 time Oscar Award nominated), Christien Tinsley (Academy Award nominated), Joel Harlow (Academy Award winner) and Leonard Engelman, the first Governor of the Make-up branch of the Board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (School Director from 2008 to 2010). Our Signature Series Seminars and open class events give our students and graduates the opportunity to interact with makeup artists who are recognized by their peers as excelling in their craft. CMS graduates have achieved unparalleled success in international competitions such as the exclusive International Makeup Artist Tradeshow (IMATS) student competitions worldwide. In the past year, our students have placed first, second and third at multiple IMATS competitions in both the Beauty/Fantasy and Prosthetics/Character categories.

As a world leader in the beauty and special effects makeup industry, several international news programs and domestic television shows have featured our school in televised segments. We have had multiple graduates as competitors on Syfy’s Face Off reality series competition. Recently, our school was featured on French television’s 50minInside nationally televised program. We are proud of our international recognition, and we are in the process of offering classes in several more locations around the world. We hope to continue to provide the best training and job support to our students and graduates in the ever-advancing fields of beauty and special effects makeup.
