Dick Smith Legends of Makeup Scholarship Winner Wayne Anderson at IMATS 2011

Less than two months ago Wayne Anderson was announced as the recipient of the Cinema Makeup School & Fangoria Magazine’s $10,000.00 Dick Smith Legends of Makeup Scholarship. It already looks like his makeup career is off to a promising start. Before taking in all the IMATS Pasadena festivities, Anderson spent Friday afternoon visiting the Cinema Makeup School with family.

Wayne Anderson had the opportunity to meet some of the makeup greats that were in attendance. Leonard Engelman, Governor of the make-up branch of the Board of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science as well as retired Director of Education at Cinema Makeup School, took him around the pro-lounge and introduced him to some of the makeup industry heavy weights.

While Anderson met many famous make-up artists, a definite highlight was meeting Dick Smith. Dick Smith is not only the Oscar Award winning makeup artist who is known in the industry as "The Godfather" of Special Effects, but also the namesake for the Scholarship that is making Anderson’s makeup education dream a reality.

Cinema Makeup School Director Lee Joyner poses with generations of makeup legends: Wayne Anderson standing between last year’s Scholarship name sake, Dick Smith, and next year’s, three time Academy Award winner Ve Neill.
Wayne will be starting at Cinema Makeup School later this year. With such a picture-perfect start, we can’t wait to see Wayne Anderson’s next step in his makeup career.
