Faceoff, television’s ultimate special effects makeup challenge competition
series, is getting ready for its next season. Wednesday night, April 11,
2012, Casting Director of FaceOff JR
Pittman was at Cinema Makeup School (CMS) with two casting judges for the only
live casting of the show’s fourth season.
Nine people (3 men and 6 women), all past and present students of CMS,
showed up with their portfolios, appliances and makeup to change their facial
appearances and show the FaceOff judges how they perform under
pressure. Each of the contestants was
given a set amount of time to complete their makeup, while the three judges
watched, filmed, and took pictures.

Prosthetic Makeup Application Process
Video applications can
still be submitted for FaceOff’s next
season until April 13, 2012, at 6 PM PST on the world wide web. The fourth season will be filmed from June
until August this year, immediately after the filming of the third season.
I love, love, love the Cinema Makeup blog. I keep forwarding articles from here to my husband. He's an artist who designs tattoos and skateboard designs and does a lot of cover arts for bands, and he's just a phenomenal artist. He's expressed interest more than once in becoming a special effects makeup artist but he feels like he can't "make it" because it's so competitive. But I wish he would just take the plunge already and go to makeup school - though it's a little harder to come by SFX makeup schools in Kansas than some other areas.
